The Alaska Inter-Tribal Council, as a statewide consortium of First Nations, which share a common bond with unique cultures, language, spirituality, and traditional values, declare our intent to proactively advocate for, protect, defend, and enhance our inherent rights, as self-determining tribal sovereigns.
Through self-empowerment, we shall continue to embrace our traditional values, knowledge, and wisdom to guide our role as stewards of our homeland, our culture, language and way of life. Proactively, we commit to preserving and protecting our indigenous livelihood traditions of hunting, trapping, fishing, and gathering.
We affirm that our cultural, social, economic, spiritual and community well being are wholly interconnected with Mother Earth and all Creation.
We shall exercise leadership by practicing honor of our elders, love for our children, and respect and reverence for all Creation.
We shall always remember our ancestry as we teach our coming generations. In service to our people, we shall promote initiatives, which support economic community self-sufficiency and self-sustaining tribal governments.
