Resolution 2006-03

Entitled: A resolution to the Inter-Tribal Council Alaska (AI-TC) to help Alaska tribal governments through technical assistance to draft legislation for the funding allocations from Congress to buy natives in the Yukon Flats Refuge Life Silvestre.

WHEREAS, the Government zhee Gwich'in Tribal Gwichyaa also known as the hometown of Fort Yukon IRA, is the governing body recognized native to zhee Gwichyaa community, also known as Fort Yukon, and

WHEREAS, the Tribal Council Gwichyaa zhee Gwich'in are the elected governing body for zhee Gwichyaa Gwich'in Tribal Government, and

WHEREAS, the zhee Gwichyaa Gwich'in Tribal Government want to protect the diversity of natural fauna, and lands in the Yukon Flats National Wildlife Refuge, and

WHEREAS, the Government zhee Gwich'in Tribal Gwichyaa wants to ensure and protect our lands in the Yukon Flats National Wildlife Refuge for our future generations, and

WHEREAS, the zhee deGwichyaa Gwich'in Tribal Government is very concerned of all native allotments that are being sold in the Salar de Yukon and is concerned that foreign interests can sell the land within our region and

WHEREAS, the Tribal Government zhee Gwichyaa crying all claims Gwich'in traditional land that once was occupied by our ancestors.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the AI-TC in this way ... all Alaska tribal governments are requesting technical assistance from AI-TC to a bill funding Congress re-purchase of lots of natives in the Yukon Flats National Wildlife Refuge for the protection of our ancestors, and traditional lands, and

FURTHER
RESOLVED, that this resolution shall be the policy of AI-TC until they remove or alter the decision later.

CERTIFICATION

The foregoing resolution was adopted at the 2006 Annual Convention of the Inter-Tribal Council of Alaska, which was held at the Millennium Alaskan Hotel in Anchorage, Alaska on December 19, 2006 with a quorum present.
